Atlantic Side

Pamela lives on the Atlantic side of the island, this was the windy side of the island and the seas are rougher than the Caribbean side. Much of the tourism, the large hotels, and the sandy beaches are on the Caribbean.

Greeted by a mama goat, yesterday we hiked down to the beach.
We decided to leave our bathing suites at home

There are a number of houses that are unoccupied, in many cases people build them then move off the island. Do to pest and the salt water the homes deteriorate quickly. Lennox gave a bid to someone for this home for pest control from a person that lives out of town.

Back on the road we stopped by the St, James Drag Raceway. People drive fast here, the cars and trucks are very nice. They are brought in from Japan and sell here for good prices. The main road is twisty; add to that the animals on the road, people parked in the narrow road, and people walking, drivers need to be on their toes.  There was some drag racing on the roads so the government built a drag racing track on the beach.

The races are held on holiday's and people come from other islands. Lennox says that the racing continues on the road after the official races.

The young monkeys see us and scurry away, they are stealing fruit from the neighbors tree.
