Ghent

After the visit to the school we went into the old part of Ghent, the camera comes out right away, as there sites on sites to see. Saint Bavo's Cathedral The inside is a mixture of stone and brick, reaching high into the sky The churches across Europe seem to compete for the most detailed pulpits  This statue caught my eye, I will need to do some research on this when I get home On our way to purchase world famous Ghent mustard and some "Noses of Ghent" A "Nose from Ghent" The merchants and traders of the 1180's were making great money and building their homes out of stone, Philip of Alsace decided that he could not be outdone and built himself a new home  The sites around the castle The rooms have been restored, this is also the first place in Europe that had a proper indoor fireplace, before the invention, the smoke from the fire would fill a room like this.
